  • Galia Lahav 2018 Bridal Spring/Summer Collection

Galia Lahav showed his Galia Lahav Haute Couture and Gala by Galia Lahav lines together this season with a whirlwind of embellished gowns. His couture collection included gowns inspired by the Victorian era, with high necks, corsets and neck pieces that were all new for the brand. Gala’s collection aimed toward the more bohemian bride, with an abundance of handsome embellishments, embroideries and shine.

  • Christian Siriano 2018 Bridal Spring/Summer Collection

Samira Wiley, who wore a custom off-the-shoulder crop top and ball skirt to her wedding to OITNB writer and producer Lauren Morelli in March. Fans quickly began asking Siriano for similar styles, so for Spring ’18 he designed a silk faille midriff top and a matching full skirt. Other bridal separates include a dazzling tulle cape covered in crystals and pearls. There were also more traditional dresses here. Siriano placed an emphasis on frothy tulle skirts and textured embroidered bodices.

  • Marchesa 2018 Bridal Spring/Summer Collection

Wedding etiquette often dictates that guests shouldn’t wear black, but what if you’re the bride? At Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig’s Marchesa presentation, many of the outfits had some sort of black detail: a black velvet belt, a hair bow, jet-beaded chandelier earrings, or even the stark black trim on a fluffy tulle mini. Craig and Chapman cited English gardens as their jumping-off point. “We were thinking about the English bride, but it’s still quintessentially Marchesa,” Chapman explained. Which is to say: romantic, feminine, and with a fair bit of drama. New for Marchesa brides were the body-skimming dresses in slinky stretch crepe; a few “cold shoulder” gowns, like one with playful bows on the sleeves; and voluminous skirts that started “below the derriere.” The results were subtler and more elegant than your standard mermaid gown, and there was an airy, ethereal quality to the lace, shirred tulle, and 3-D florals that looked like they would be well suited to a garden wedding-English or otherwise.

  • Anne Barge 2018 Bridal Spring/Summer Collection

Spring’s collection represented a big step forward for Barge. She has black-tie, “high church” down pat; here, she expanded her horizons with low-back dresses, some with whisper-light treatments like re-embroidered Alençon lace on tulle, that were easy to imagine at a destination wedding in Portofino or St. Barth’s. Barge’s channeling of the ’60s—Françoise Hardy was on the soundtrack, Bardot bands were in the hair—was a win, whether you are team Bouvier or Hepburn.

  • Naeem Khan 2018 Bridal Spring/Summer Collection

Naeem Khan doesn’t think about red-hot trends when it comes to bridal. Instead, he focuses on what his international brides really want. With that in mind, there was a wide variety in his Spring ’18 collection: A bedazzled, flapper-esque number looked fit for the modern, outré bride, while a drop-waist gown with an embellished bodice and ostrich-feather skirt might resonate with more a sultry type. Other gowns were classic with a romantic twist, like the lace A-line dress with angled, fluttered sleeves, which added a pretty touch.

  • Georges Hobeika 2017 Autumn/Winter Lace & Embroidery Collection

There are no harsh lines here; just flowing looks infused with freedom of movement. The sets emphasize the women’s figure, and give a portrait of a modern woman who adores being chic. This is achieved with the fine embroideries such as the ornate ones done in the representation of an owl. They are a part of the whole designs without overwhelming them. There are plenty of sheer fabrics, also chunky color blocks, seductive cut-off, lace details, huge slits and open shoulders.

  • Monique Lhuillier 2018 Bridal Spring/Summer Collection

You can count on Monique Lhuillier to deliver soft, ethereal fantasy gowns that also play to a traditional mind-set. After the show, the designer recounted, “I put myself back into that girl 21 years ago when I was shopping for my own wedding dress: I was looking for something that I didn’t have in my closet, and I wanted that dress that was a statement that would make me treasure the moment forever.”

  • Monique Lhuillier 2017 Autumn/Winter Lace & Embroidery Collection

Monique Lhuillier skipped the runway this season, “It’s about really seeing the details,” she said, walking toward racks bursting in feather details, luxurious embroideries and sumptuous tulle. A blush feather-embroidered tulle top paired with chic black pants; big floral pants matched with a simple cashmere jacket, and a metallic stripe skirt with a solid white top strengthened. As for gowns, Lhuillier did not disappoint, neither in range, nor in drama. An ethereal, simple pink fluid wrap dress was just as glamorous as her signature floral embroidered ball illusion gowns.

  • Marchesa 2017 Autumn/Winter Lace & Embroidery Collection

The show’s opening gown — a cap-sleeve, black Chantilly lace column covered in floral embroidery with a long skirt made from rainbow tassel fringe — was straight out of the Qing dynasty. A more delicate version trotted down the runway soon after, this one with a sheer, plunging neckline bodice and long, romantic sleeves with the same rainbow fringe used as trim. A strapless chartreuse gown in silk mikado with floral-patterned bugle beading at the bust certainly captured Shanghai glamour. And an ankle-length tulle gown covered in 3-D feathered floral appliqués was breathtaking. Oversize bows decorated the lineup throughout; a wink, Craig said, to the Fifties.

  • Naeem Khan 2017 Autumn/Winter Lace & Embroidery Collection

A linear beaded jacket, pant, and worn nonchalantly over a lace bra, or a black velvet drawstring version worn with the most intricate gold-embroidered maxi coat. The visual feast continued via a series of his signature colorful hand-embroidered floral thread work dresses and coats, culminating in a mosaic-embroidered jumpsuit.

  • Simone Rocha 2017 Autumn/Winter Lace & Embroidery Collection

This season, designer dialed down the dreaminess and marched into new territory with a lineup of military-inspired clothing and voluminous faux furs - protective clothing for challenging times. Even Rocha’s flowers - chunky crochet leather appliqués on coats or colored embroidery on sheer tulle and organza dresses - served a practical, as well as a decorative, purpose.

  • Christian Dior 2017 Autumn/Winter Lace & Embroidery Collection

The collection inspired by the ample hood, borrowed from the tunics of pastors. Blue, the color symbol of power, beauty and spirituality, is employed for genderless outfits and to express differences. It is positioned between nature and culture, as the color of the spirit, of contact with the infinite, in us and beyond. It initiates a link to the mystery of the moon, the comets and planets that explode on evening dresses of opulent velvet or on dégradé tulle that blends into the blue-gray of embroidered lily flowers.

  • Alexander McQueen 2017 Autumn/Winter Lace & Embroidery Collection

The collection is inspired by pagan landscapes, creative communities and ancient traditions of Cornwall particularly the “Cloutie” Trees. These spiritual trees are places of pilgrimage, their branches and twigs adorned with colourful ribbons and personal treasures representingthe hopes and dreams of those who tied them.
